Until the end of this school year at Campaigners we will be taking a look at chapters 5-7 of Matthew, a section known as "The Sermon on the Mount." You might be surprised at how many of the things said by Jesus in this "Talk" you recognize. For example: "blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth", "let your 'yes' be 'yes' and your 'no', 'no'", "turn the other cheek", "the Lord's prayer" etc...
What we find is that when Jesus Talks:
- It's often surprising
- He talks about issues that are just as relevant now as they were 2000 years ago
- He challenges us to consider our relationship with others, with our stuff, and with God
